The tournament ends with the fixture that opened it, and the form line has completely inverted in between. Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 37 runs on 18 October and went on to win their first three matches. Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by eight wickets with 191 balls to spare on Tuesday, bowling the hosts out for 110 — their second-lowest ODI total at home.
Pakistan finished the round robin on six points from four matches, Sri Lanka on four from three. Shaheen Shah Afridi’s side have four days to explain a batting performance with no shape to it at all, against the same bowlers, at the same ground, in the same conditions. That cuts both ways.
Dilshan Madushanka’s 5 for 34 on Tuesday was a career best. Kusal Mendis will want him fresh.
