One of my favorite players of all-time is Wayne Gretzky. He is just a sensational player. During the 1990’s, Gretzky captivated the whole league. He had numerous numbers and records to his credit. No wonder he remains to be one of the all-time greats in hockey.

When I think of Wayne Gretzky, I think about a force. He is a true star and that I would always love to play with. Needless to say, no matter where I am or what I am doing, I cannot escape his presence.

During the 1992-93 season, the Colorado Avalanche faced off against the powerhouse Montreal Canadiens. The match became one of the most exciting games of the entire season. You can actually recall the excitement and how the two teams battle for each other.

When the Avs and Habs were battling for the lead late in the 4th period, things got heated. It all turned out to be one of the best momentous moves in hockey. Wayne Gretzky scored the overtime winner and the Avs would go on to win the Stanley Cup. This would become the blueprint for all of the great moments that the Flyers would have with Gretzky.

Two seasons later, the Flyers would once again square off against their bitter rivals. This time, it was the Habs who came away with the victory. However, as has been shown before, it was the Flyers who came into play with one of the best momentous moves in hockey. They scored two goals in less than two minutes to take home the trophy. This would set the stage for what would become an even greater series between the two teams.

It would be the Flyers, who knocked the Habs off in the Eastern Conference final. Many people forget that this happened because the Pens had been so close to taking the series all the way. As has been mentioned earlier, the Pens had been playing far above the league average lately. This enabled them to steal the series from the Flyers. Even with the Pens up 2-1 in the series, the Flyers were able to come back and beat the Pens in the next game to claim their first Cup in twelve years.

So which momentous move made the biggest difference in the Pens vs. Flyers series? The answer to that question is impossible to cite. The best momentous move might be the Flyers’ victory in the playoffs over the Pens in six games. Though there was a lot of talent on the Flyers’ side, they just couldn’t get the job done. Without this incredible goal by Edwards Demko, the Flyers would have lost in six.

As for Edwards Demko, he is one of the most skilled young players in hockey. He has been sensational all season. Many experts said that he was the best player on the team not named Wayne Gretzky. Now that he has been traded to Ottawa, there is a good chance that Gretzky will get his second career title.

Another player who has been playing like a pro all season is Matt Martin. The Lightning traded him to the Predators after only one season with the Islanders. Martin has impressed fans and media everywhere with his ability to produce points while playing on a bottom line. His game-winning goal in Game 7 of the finals was one of the greatest highlights of the entire season.

There are still several other players who can make any momentous goal or huge play. Two players who fit into this category are Shea Weber and Vincent Lecavalier. Both of them have had dominant performances this year. Weber has been outstanding. He is comparable to Gretzky in the sense that he plays on a bottom line and is an extremely skilled player.
